Gary S. Swindell has more than forty-eight years of experience in reservoir engineering and petroleum property appraisal in a wide variety of geographical areas and basins, including international work in Western Siberia, Russia, the Caspian Basin and the Paris Basin, France.

After receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geological Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1974, he was employed by Lone Star Producing Company (later renamed Enserch Exploration) as a reservoir engineer in the company's North Central Texas District, engaged in reserve estimation, development drilling and workover recommendations, log evaluation and filings and testimony before state regulatory bodies. In 1976 he was assigned to the East Texas - North Louisiana District performing similar work.

He was promoted to District Engineer of the North Texas District in early 1977, supervising a staff of petroleum engineers responsible for Enserch's largest district in number of wells, consisting of 86 counties and 760 wells of which 450 were company operated.

In September, 1980, Mr. Swindell began work in petroleum engineering consulting, specializing in petroleum property evaluation and reservoir engineering and since that time has worked on a contract basis for DeGolyer and MacNaughton and in association with other consulting firms, extensively with LaRoche & Associates, Dallas, Texas. With Mr. William E. LaRoche, he formed LaRoche, Swindell & Associates in 1990, and presently consults independently. His clients have included:

In 2007, he earned a Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland.  His thesis study was on well performance of coalbed methane wells in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming, and an SPE paper derived from that study was presented at the Rocky Mountain Technology Symposium in April, 2007 (SPE 107308 - Powder River Basin Coalbed Methane Wells - Reserves and Rates).

Mr. Swindell is a Registered Professional Engineer in the states of Texas, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania, and is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE)and the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers (SPEE).

He has served on the Dallas Energy Council, was 1991 Dallas section chairman of the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers (SPEE), and has chaired the Reserves Definition Committee and the Internet Committee of the SPEE. He has taught seminars at the Maguire Oil and Gas Insititute at Southern Methodist University.
